A Heritage of Craftsmanship
Founded in Berlin in 1902, we are Germany’s oldest orthotic manufacturer – still family-owned and driven by the same pioneering spirit as our founder, Hermann Springer.
What began with the first medical foot support has evolved into a brand known worldwide for medical-grade precision, modern design, and human-centered innovation.
1902
Company founded
Hermann Springer establishes the company in Berlin, marking the beginning of a family business that will develop and manufacture foot orthotics for generations to come.
1950
Plexidur and thermoplastics
Plexidur introduces thermoplastics into foot orthotic manufacturing. Compared with conventional materials, it enables lighter, dimensionally stable orthotics that can be shaped and adjusted individually.
1985
The sports orthotic
With Sportolon, SPRINGER develops a foot orthotic specifically for the demands of athletes. Initially met with resistance within the industry, the concept of the “sports orthotic” becomes firmly established.
2000
Sensorimotor foot orthoses and the Academy
Sensorimotor foot orthoses become a key area of expertise. Decades of continuous development have shaped our expertise in this field to this day. In the same year, the SPRINGER Academy is founded to share specialist knowledge and practical experience.
2006
EasyCAD
EasyCAD marks the start of digital foot orthotic design. Orthotics can now be designed on screen, individually adapted and transferred directly into digital manufacturing processes.
2010
Carbon systems
Carbon enters foot orthotic manufacturing. Its combination of low weight, minimal thickness and high stability makes it particularly suitable where space inside the shoe is limited.
2023
3D-printed foot orthotics
SPRINGER begins manufacturing foot orthotics using 3D printing. Instead of relying solely on different materials, stiffness and flexibility can now be precisely controlled through the design and internal structure of the orthotic.
